A* Assignment - Why did the answer gain the highest grade?

Here is your chance to explain why you feel the answer gained an A*. Do reflect on the comments of other students. Considering what is needed to get the highest grades by analysing student answers is a really useful process.

I think this student achieved an A* because she made good use of her big ideas and expanded them widely. In her introduction she defined and directed.

Anything to add to that FF? Don't disagree with the points - can you give a couple of examples where this is done well?

I think that this student achieved an A* for this essay for three reasons. The first is that the introduction clearly introduced the essay by defining and directing.

The second reason is that the main ideas were chosen carefully to get the right points across. The paragraphs were well organised and had clear big ideas which were then expanded. She often related back to the question.

Also, a wide and sometimes complex vocabulary range was used to put across points effectively.

The third reason is that the conclusion ended the essay effectively. It related back to the question and highlighted main points of the essay.

Interesting points.

Can students give specific examples of what was well expressed, good supporting evidence, impressive ideas etc.?

I think this got an A* because the student got the right facts and explained them thoughtfully with sufficient evidence. Also they picked up on the not so big ideas and elaborated on them to add more evidence. Aaron Davidson

I think she got an a star due to the impressive structure of her points. Also the catergorising of the points "negative cohesion". The introduction was really good as well, ending on a decisive point "without the high levels of support gained, Hitler would never have been in a position to become chancelor"
The conclusion was also very clear and direct, having a decisive opinion and conveying it really well.
She expanded on her points extensivley particuarlly in her paragraph about gaining "support from all sections of German society"
and overall it was just a pretty amazing essay, the points fitted toghether really well and it had heaps of supporting facts.

This is where I should start arguing about why mine should have been the highest graded essay...

I think this was worthy of an A* because throughout the essay the student made it good and structured containing some strong main points with a lot of evidence to back up those points. They started their essay with a short but detailed introduction which gives us abit of information on the Nazis. This was followed up with 8 detailed paragraphs packed with powerful points and backing up evidence then another short but strong pararapgh, the conclusion this time, containing a summary of all their points. All in all it was a very good essay.

P.S. Please pass this onto Uncle Reddick: Printed off homework on Tuesday but have recently been half dead due to illnesses but I will bring it in to you tommorow, thanks. :)

The essay got a A* i think because in Mr. Redicks words not the History bee's, the essay defines and directs very well and has a clear opening and it uses good vocabulary and is well thought out. The ideas are well thought through and has included key names, dates and facts to support the arrangement. They have wrote alot without droning on and have engaged the reader well. It was well structured and was accurate through out, this put the person in the examiners ' good books' This person brought all the points together well without just repeating all the same stuff and made a clear conclusion and no umming are aring was involved, is that ok Mr. HistoryBee ??

I think this essay got a good mark because the points were executed well. To improve it, I would advise saying more on the fundamental problems and legacy of the War, and also to rely less on talking about voting patterns.

i think this got an a* for this essay for many reasons. firstly there introduction was clear and it described detail

number two was her structure of her main ideas. the main ideas were structured carefully across the essay, and she went into explaining them in huge detail like in the paragraph about 'German society'

and finally she wrapped up the ending very well going over all the main points to clarify

I think the student got an A* because they introduced the essay clearly and made it clear what it consists of. Also within the essay the the big ideas are fully explained, discussed and argued their reasoning.

I think this student achieved an A* because they effectively defined and directed their introduction, which set the essay off to a good, clear start.
The student had a good use of main ideas, and expanded them witht he use of sophisicated vocabulary and key terms.
The conclusion was also very effective, and ended the essay very nicely. The points were clear and concise. The structure of the essay was also very particular.

The History Bee,
I think this essay got an A* because it used the 6 big idea's and expanded on each of them in great depth and detail, it also used dates and significant figures to back up and advise the argument. This showed great knowledge of the topic and sophistication when answering the question.

if you're playing that game,
